End of the First week of School
Ahh the start of school. How many of you remember the days? The jitters, the anxious walk to your first class, the exciting times....
Jordan has just completed his first week back at school. He was excited about starting school again.
The first day I drove him to school and we took some photos. After school he used the bus to get home. I was nervous. It was his first time taking the bus and he didn't really know the bus stop that well. So when the bus arrived at the stop I watched as the children unloaded.... Jordan didn't come off! So I asked the bus driver if there was anyone named Jordan on the bus. He called the name out a few times.... STILL NO MOVEMENT! (Talk about giving a mother a heart attack.) I asked the bus driver what would happen if Jordan had taken the wrong bus, what if he'd exited at the wrong stop, etc. The bus driver gave me some information but I was feeling rather concerned seeing that my son was missing somewhere between the school and the bus stop! So I asked him once more to make sure there wasn't a Jordan. He called one last time and sure enough I saw a head bob. Then a few minutes later (while all the traffic is of course stopped and waiting for the bus to finish unloading --- now it has been probably 5 minutes ---) Jordan climbs of the bus. He said, "I'm sorry mom! I didn't see the palm trees so I didn't think this was the right bus stop!" I told him it was okay.
The bus had stopped maybe 15 feet from the corner where the palm trees were located and they couldn't quite be seen from the bus. So we talked about landmarks for him to use as a referrence for his stop and then we started our 1/2 mile walk home. It was a nice walk. Jordan was excited abouth is first day at school. Some friends from his Kindergarten class were also in this class with him so he already knew people. He skipped and laughed about his day. The stress of the bus had already faded. It was great.
The next few days flew by. He really loves his new class and they do a lot of math, problem solving and patterns at school. He also had 2 days of P.E. which he thought was GREAT.
This week he also tested for green belt at his Kung Fu class. He passed the test without a hitch. He knew every move and every answer. We are very proud of him!
This week was a bit more difficult for Jade. She really had a difficult time letting Jordan go to school. After we would drop him at the gates she would cry, "NOooo! Get my Jordan. I miss my Jordan, I want my Jordan... go tell him come home pweese! JOOOOOrrrrddaaaannnn!!!" It has been a bit of a test for me to put up with her! She has needed a lot of extra attention and has been hard to peel from my leg at the gym. Eventually she remembers that she like to play there and then she gives me a few extra kisses and I can go ahead and work out.
Jeramis and I have been great. He's still teaching his martial art classes on Tuesdays and Fridays and we've found a darling young lady who is happy to have a few extra dollars in her pocket... so she comes on Tuesdays and Fridays and watches the children while I attend class with him and on Fridays we head out on a date after the class. It is refreshing to have time for just the two of us each week.
When I download the photos from my camera I'll add a few here of Jordan's first week of school, Jade's craziness, and Jordan getting his green belt.
Hugs and Kisses to all
