November 2009

November was a really busy but fun month for us. We had a lot going on and did quite a bit as a family. Here are our highlights :)

Jaz has become more of a "daddy's boy" and likes to crawl over to Jeramis when he gets home for work or if he's sitting on the couch. He likes to sit with him and bounce on him, bang his head on him, try to eat him, etc... (You know, the normal zombie baby things!)

Jordan's crayfish "Claw" finally met his demise at the mouth of Jordan's fish Goldie." So we got a new one. Jordan named him Claw2D2. (Yes, he is a Star Wars fanatic still.)

We went to Boston at the beginning of the month to see the area. We started off our exploring in Salem. The kids were really excited about the Pirate Museum there so we stopped in for the tour.

Jade decided that she wanted a Pirate Birthday Party for her Birthday this year so it worked out good.

After the pirate museum we went over to the Salem Witch Village for the Wax museum there. The kids really liked that, Jade especially. They did rubbings off of tombstones there that were replicas of the tombstones in the graveyard next to it.

The graveyard is the oldest in Salem and has graves for a Mayflower pilgrim, Salem Witch Judges, and many others. It was neat to walk around and see tombstones dated in the late 1600s.

It was chilly though and so we had to bundle up. Jaz has almost outgrown this cap of his that I love so much, so I had to take a picture. After seeing Salem we went into Boston and did the historic sites and drove around the city. We stopped at Cheers so Jeramis could get a picture of it and then in the evening we took a fun little carriage ride around the downtown district. Jade loved that... it was her favorite thing. It was worth the coin too. Our guide was great. Unfortunately I have no pictures of downtown Boston as my camera battery had already died by then. I need to get some of Jeramis' pictures but I'll have to do it at another time.

Day two we went up into Maine to see, specifically, Portland, Maine.

We went to Len Libby's chocolate shop where they have Lenny the Moose which is a life size moose made out of 100% chocolate. The chocolate was SUPER good too.

Portland was really pretty. We went to the harbor there and found a Lobster place

This is the kids and Jeramis waiting for our food.

Jade was looking at things on the city map.

Jeramis and Jade giving me their smiles.

Jordan found the newspaper very interesting. There was an article about whales and the trouble they are facing.

Someone had their dog there at the outdoor area where we ate and the kids had fun playing with it. Even Jaz liked the dog who took great interest in his sticky fingers.

Jaz wanted our food, not Cheerios

We went to the Fort Allen park area after and walked around. There was this ship docked out in the water that is a replica (we think) from one of the ships used back when Portland, Maine was founded. The statue is of the man that founded the city.

The kids liked the cannons. Jeramis posed for me with them!
The trip was really great, short but great. We had a lot of fun being together as a family although the 8 hr car ride up and back was interesting. We liked Maine and Boston both. There was enough to see and do that we were filled to the brim. The country there is very beautiful, especially in Maine. On our way back to Boston from there we saw this huge line of birds flying in a pattern out the window. It went on for MILES (probably at least 10 miles.) The birds were small and flying about 15 to 20 across in this huge line. We were all amazed by that and intrigued.

November was a very wet month for us here. It rained so much that the bay flooded - several times - into the parking lot of an establishment near our home. The water was at least 8 inches deep. Since we love the little marina by our house and we come by there a lot I thought I'd snap a shot.

Also, our little beach was nearly covered with water. We usually have to walk at least 20 feet to get to the waterline but during this month it was only maybe 3 feet from the stairs. It did end up washing up some nice 1 inch shark teeth and lots of pirate beads.

Jaz's hair is starting to curl. It's funny because he ends up with a mohawk often and has little curls at the base of his neck. It straitens out some but we're seeing more and more curl as he gets bigger.

Me and Jaz spend a lot of time together. He's getting so big. I sometimes miss the little baby stage - when he wasn't mobile - but at the same time I can't wait for him to get to the 2's. I love the twos (for the most part!)

Jade and Jordan have been enjoying Jaz's new mobile stage. They like having him chase them around the house and crawl over and play with them (or bang on them with his hands or head.) He pulls up on everything and is always underfoot. We don't mind too much :)

Jade had a pirate princess party. She wanted me to make a pirate ship cake "in the ocean."

She turned 7. I can't believe it. Her party was great fun. They had a treasure hunt and used "spyglasses" (pringles cans covered with fabric w/ a hole in the bottom), played pin the eye-patch on the Pirate and some other games.

The next day Grandpa Don and PJ arrived.

We went to the monuments while they were here and this squirrel was hanging out on the bench and let me get in kind of close... when he'd finished what he was eating he tried to climb onto my lap!

It was cold so we kept Jaz in his stroller.

Jordan and Jade like to tote Jaz around in this mini-wagon. It's meant for toys but for some reason they think he's a toy...

There's other stuff from November that I'll have to come back and post, like Jade's birthday invite. For now, this is the update!
Hope you had a great Thanksgiving.
