The first of many Missing Teeth

It has happend! Jordan is officially "growing up" (or so I've been told.) Over the past month he has excitedly been tugging at a tooth. It started one morning, a Thursday, when he came down for breakfast. He said, "Mom, my tooth hurts." At first I thought, "Oh great, he's got a cavity...." So I walked over to take a peek. What I saw was not a black hole but instead a tooth that seemed a little out of its usual sitting position... so I dared to take a closer look and told him to open his mouth up a little wider... I slowly took my finger and pulled a little. Sure enough, it wiggled. This, of course, brought about many questions... "How long 'til it will fall out?" "Will it hurt?" "Does the tooth know that it is loose?" "Can I eat?" "Will it hurt to eat?" The list of questions could continue as he asked me from breakfast until we reached the steps of his school. One of the final questions, "If it falls out at school what will I do?" I gave him a plastic bag to keep in his backpack -- just in case.

That was two weeks before it finally feel out. He'd wiggle it every day and had me 'check' to make sure it was still loose. I wasn't in a hurry for him to loose it... But then he came home Wednesday, the day before I was leaving on a 5 day trip to Philly, and he says to me, "Look what I can do with my tooth mom..." (See pictures)

Not wanting to miss the photo op of his tooth falling out I told him to keep wiggling it and that I bet he'd loose it by bedtime.

He wiggled and wiggled it... at about 7pm I came and checked on him. I wiggled it a few times and it was nearly out so I asked him, "Do you want me to pull it out?" He said, "Will it hurt?" I said, "Maybe a little but your tooth is barely in there... want to see?" So we went into the bathroom and I showed him in the mirror how it was already bleeding a little and you could see the back end of it when you pulled it down. He looked at me and said, "I'm so excited that it is falling out." So I reached in and with a little wiggle... yank, out came the tooth. (See more pictures)

I was sad that I couldn't enjoy his expression when he discovered whatever the toothfairy may have left in the place of his tooth but I did really enjoy watching him get ready for bed, excited and happy. He said, "Now I'm like my friends who have missing teeth." I told him, "You lost your tooth just in time for halloween, you'll look just like a jack-o-lantern." He thought that was pretty funny.

Jade, of course, insisted that she had a loose tooth too. It was very hard to explain to her that she was too little to loose her teeth... so instead we eventuall just started saying, "Yup, your teeth will fall out soon too." Same idea, but it sounded different enough to Jade. LOL

I spent the next 5 days in Philadelphia, PA at a convention and doing a little sight seeing. It was a great opportunity for me on several levels. I've never been that far to the east so it was neat to see some of the history of our country. To name a few things: I saw the liberty bell, where the constitution and declaration were drafted and signed, visited Washington Square and the tomb of the unknown solider located there, went for a ride on the DUCKS -- even into the Delware at Penn's Landing, saw the Ghostbuster building, Ben Franklin's grave, and even spent an evening on South Street in downtown Philly--- definately an interesting place haha to say the least. I spent two days at the first Digital Scrapbooking Convention where I taught two Microsoft Digital Image Pro (and 2006) classes. I was able to meet a bunch of the fantastic ladies from the Design Team as well... all who came out to the convention to teach... and even some of the site members came too- that was also neat!

Jeramis watched the children for the time I was gone. I think that was a bit painful for him haha. The kids are definately at a challenging stage in their lives. They are busy and needy and have way too much things they are doing. It is why I'm never around! While I love keeping them busy I do sometimes wonder how I manage to keep it all together.

(Here are two photos of Jade I don't want to leave her out haha!)

Before I went to Philly life was super busy! My dear friend Anna and her family came out here for a vacation and we ended up meeting up with them a few times. It was nice to get the kids back together and to meet her newest little one. We've really missed them since everyone left Japan. My longest known friend (haha that's an odd way to write it... but she's the first friend I ever had way back when I was a few months old!) Jen came out also. It was so awesome to see her too after not seeing her for 8 years! On top of that Don and PJ also came out to visit us for a few days and we were lucky enough to visit with Aunt Sally, Uncle Bob (who were out visiting)and Brett and Anna. While I'm still not sold on living here I must say that being in the States has made it a lot easier to see family and I do enjoy that aspect of it.

So October has been extremely busy for us and we still have a week to go. I'll update you closer or shortly after Halloween!

ENJOY
