12-27-2008 Finally An Update!
Really truly, an update! Can you believe it? It's been tooooooooo long. I'm such a slacker! (Throw the rotten tomatoes! I deserve it.)
I'd like to say I have a great excuse, that there were reasons beyond my control keeping me from updating but the truth is that the blog was one of the few things in my life to fall victim to my 'over' committed schedule. But, I've simplified. So hopefully now we'll see some more action here and you will all be able to keep up with our family better!
So, to begin. 2008 is coming to a close. The year found us moving from one side of the country to the other. While we have enjoyed the change in climate and our new area it has been an adjustment. We look forward to exploring this area and all the things that are close to us! We love the green of Maryland. It's lovely. Having a real autumn and (*so far) winter has been a real treat!
The kids are doing great. They have adjusted well and are keeping us busy as ever.
Jordan was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome this summer. It has been great to finally understand what is going on with him. He's got a lot of the 'positive' traits of the syndrome and so we're just making some minor adjustments to help him and to parent to his needs better. For some of you who have been following our family you know that 3rd grade for him was the catalyst that made us start to really research what might be going on. Knowing has helped so much, especially this year in school. He doesn't really know what it means to have Aspergers because we do not want him to use it as a crutch. Instead we've explained to him that it is just a term for how he thinks which is different than other people and that it is just a part of his own characteristics. We have worked to help him understand that there are some positives and negatives to it and we want to help him build a good foundation in life so that he can be a successful adult.
Jade has had here own set of issues this year. We've been seeing a specialist for her because she has pain in her stomach. They gave her reflux med's for about 3 months but she is still having problems and so we've taken her off the med's and are waiting to see a pediatric upper GI specialist before doing anything else. They've done some tests over the past months so we're just hoping they'll figure it out. Aside from the tummy aches she is doing fine. :)
A few Highlights-
We celebrated our 10th Wedding anniversary.
We visited family on the West Coast before our move and spent time with friends.
We did a few "VEGAS" things before leaving. (nothing adult, mind you! just some hiking, site-seeing, Game Works days, etc.
The kids had a ballet & tap recital a few days before we moved where they performed a darling duet as well as they rest of the routines with their class.
(Jade and Jordan in their Tap Outfits)

Jordan earned his Wolf Badge before we left Las Vegas.
We drove from Las Vegas to Kansas and visited family there and then finished our trip from Kansas to Maryland. Driving across country was fun. The kids loved that. We saw some sites in the cities along the way as well and spent some time swimming in the hotel pools. (We have 2 fish so anytime there is water they are ready to don the swimming suits.)
We found a lovely little home here.
We got Season Passes for Six Flags so the kids and I spent most of the summer there.
We've gone to the beach a lot as well.
We also found out we are expecting our 3rd child! (Yes I know-crazy ehh?)

We went fossil hunting (often!) for ocean related fossils. Jordan just loves that!
Jordan turned 9. (wow) (He had a Ninja Turtle Party)

I made him a cake the the 'baby' turtles and Splinter crawling in the "ooze."

We went to New York for the 4th of July and saw Lady Liberty as well as New York and New Jersey.

(Jordan tells Jade about the Statue)

We had a visit from Vicki (Grandma Vicki to the kids) in July.
The kids both started school in August. Jordan in 4th and Jade in Kindergarten.
(Jade on the 1st day of School - she picked that outfit out by the way!)

(Jordan on the 1st day of school)

(Jade's 2nd Day of School - another outfit she picked out)

(Jordan on the 2nd day of school - our van in the background {we purchased that about a month before moving so we'd have more room! Thank goodness we did!})

I've been busy trying to get the house finished up (unpacked, arranged, et al) before baby comes!
(Pictures from the in-depth Ultrasounds in September and October)
We find out we're going to have a baby BOY! Yippee!!

(3-D of the face and fingers - well you can't tell they are fingers but that's what is on the forehead LOL)

Jordan had both Cub Scout Day Camp (in July) and then a Cub Space-A-Ree Day Camp in October. He made a bottle rocket that he got to launch there.

Jade got to go to a pumpkin patch / farm for school.

Jordan earns his Bear Badge. We're so proud of him.
The Kids had a lot of fun carving pumpkins. They liked digging the "gooey" stuff out with their hands. They were laughing so much I had to grab the camera.

We all dressed up this year for Halloween. Jordan was Indiana Jones, Jeramis was a cowboy, Jade and I were vampires. (She picked the outfit for us. She wanted teeth and blood! She's Oh so Girly, ehh? LOL)

Jade turned 6. She had an "under the sea" party with Mermaids as the main focus.

She wanted a Mermaid Cake. (Boy do the kids keep me on my toes!)

We had a nice Thanksgiving and a really joyous Christmas.

And that brings us to today - in a nut shell. To be honest this year has been jam-packed with stuff. I'm sure I've forgotten a good amount of it. We're very excited about the baby, due mid-to end of January. We're still working on names but we think we've settled on one for the first name at least. I don't know how much bigger I'll get but I'll try to come back and post at least one more photo of me before the baby comes.
Hugs and love to you all. Hope you enjoyed our update. Feel free to leave a comment or email us! :)
May the end of 2008 be a great one for you!
